Months after the Modi government abolished article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir, it has announced the reservation of the government jobs of the region to the Domiciles.
According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, “a person who is a resident of the region J&K for 15 years or has studied for a period of 7 years and appeared for Class 10/12 examination from an institution belonging to the territory region” will be considered as a domicile. These candidates are eligible for appointment in posts with pay-scale not more than Level-4.
The announcement further states that any person who is regarded as an immigrant by the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner in the J&K region is also considered as a Domicile of the region and eligible for the jobs. Children of the Central Government officials, All India Services Officers, PSU officials, and Central Universities Officials who have served for a total period of 10 years are also eligible to become the Domicile of the region.
Also, the children of the residents of J&K who reside outside of the region for any business purpose or job purposes will be eligible for becoming Domicile, if their parents satisfy the above conditions.
Recently months before, the Modi government has announced the abolition of Article 370 which ends the special status for Jammu and Kashmir. This divided the whole region into two Union territories, J&K and Ladakh. Article 35A is also abolished which would any non-resident of the region to buy properties in the state.
